Who We Are
In the New Testament, Andrew was a person committed to the simple act of introducing people to Jesus. This is what we are all about: showing people Jesus and the amazing power of living life the way He taught us to live.
St. Andrew's Christian Church is a new church in Burlington, Vermont, started in September 2007, that is affiliated with the American Baptist Churches of Vermont and New Hampshire – a group of independent congregations that work together for common causes (like the hurricane Katrina relief effort).
We established St. Andrew's because we wanted a fresh start… an opportunity to remake our experience of church. St. Andrew's is:
| a creative space, | ||||
| an environmentally-conscious place, | ||||
| a group of people who have become a community. | ||||
St. Andrew's clings to the core tenets of Christianity: we believe in Jesus Christ and in his death and resurrection; we believe in God the creator and the Holy Trinity; we believe that the Scriptures are the Holy Word of God.
But we also believe that Christians can and will hold different opinions about how this faith is expressed. And we believe that the Christian faith is not only about a set of beliefs but is a different way of life, a way that turns the systems of the world and our American culture on its head.
