The Desire for Justice
Date Posted: 2009-10-01Except with the possible exception of sociopaths, all humans have a sense of justice-- and have a desire that justice would be expressed in society. When we hear stories about injustices happening around us, it makes us angry-- our hearts are filled with rage.
Recently, I was watching a documentary called, The Future of Food. As I listened to the stories of farmers whose way of life was being destroyed by others' greed, I just felt like I was going to explode.
We all have a sense of justice.
But what is justice? What does that really mean? Can justice be accomplished by finding a punishment that, "fits the crime?"
This is the focus of our service this Sunday.
