Advent is a season of preparation-- a time when Christians anticipate the coming of Jesus Christ.  In today's world, Advent can play an important role, as we seek to sift through the trappings of secular Christmas and the business of the holiday season for the truth of Jesus becoming real in our lives.

Though not widely practiced, it is also traditional to fast from a daily or weekly meal during the Advent season.  This is a wonderful opportunity to remind ourselves, come Christmas Day, what it is like to celebrate through feasting.

Village2Village is an organization we support in Bristol, Vermont that is having a huge impact on their partner village in rural Uganda, providing children with food, clothes, and education, and helping those infected with HIV virus to receive treatment. When you sponsor a Ugandan child through Village to Village, 100% of your support goes to meet the needs of that child.

The Chittenden Emergency Foodshelf provides food assistance to hungry Vermonters.  Serving over 11,000 people per year, the Chittenden food shelf is the largest emergency food provider in the state of Vermont.

Lifelines is a Christian ministry at the University of Vermont, which uses the outdoors to help students grow in relationship with God, in relationships with each other, in character, and in leadership.

XXX Church is a Christian ministry that is trying to raise awareness around the issue of pornography. The statistics are staggering. Every day, 40 million people visit a pornographic website, and 50% of Christians say that pornography is a major problem in the home.
